Richard Nixon (1913, Yorba Linda, California, January 9, 1913, d. Born April 22, 1994, New York City), the 37th president of the United States (served 1969-74), the cast of high society in 1956.

He is still the only US president to resign. During his resignation, the Watergate scandal unfolded, and this threatened his impeachment. Nixon was Vice President to President Dwight D. Eisenhower from 1953 to 61 before becoming President of the Watergate DC.

Early Life and Political Beginnings

Nixon was the second son of five out of a brood of nine born to Frank Nixon, who was a grocer and gas station operator, and Hannah Milhous Nixon, a devout Quaker whose religious beliefs were to shape her son for years to come great expectations 1946 cast. Nixon, born in a reasonable house in Whittier, California, was identified with his academic achievement and hard work in Richard Nixon, California. He received his law diploma from Duke University in 1937 after graduating from Whittier College in 1934. Nixon embarked on public service in 1942, after a brief period with the Office of Price Administration, to join the US Navy. In World War II, he served in the Pacific as an aviation ground officer and rose to the rank of lieutenant commander.

Rise to National Prominence

Nixon started his political career after the war. He ran for Congress in 1946, defeating a five-term incumbent, Jerry Voorhis. His election strategy was to stir up suspicions over supposed communist links of Voorhis—a technique that would define Nixon’s political characteristics as Richard Nixon’s VP.

Nixon rose to a national level of prominence, serving on the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) between 1948 and 1950.

Nixon aimed at the US Senate in 1950. Nickeled and dimeed against Democratic Congresswoman Helen Gahagan Douglas, Nixon’s campaign was not shy about criticism – it insisted on the controversial “pink sheets”, comparing her voting record to known leftist figures. The campaign tactics got him a lasting nickname “Tricky Dick” – coined by a newspaper in Southern California – a moniker subsequently adopted by his critics, Nixon vice president.
